The short answer: 10 outputs (21%) sit in genuinely good-to-great venues, 21 (45%) in solid respectable ones, and 16 (34%) in venues that carry little evaluative weight — mostly MDPI and IEEE Access megajournals, plus workshop papers and one non-indexed journal.

Prestige and impact are decoupled

This is the finding worth acting on. Your Tier 1 and Tier 2 venues hold 21% of your output but only 8% of your citations. The mid and low tiers carry almost everything.

Two papers drive most of it. Additive manufacturing in the spare parts supply chain (Computers in Industry, 2014) has 1,111 citations on its own — 30% of your entire peer-reviewed total — and Digital Twin: Vision, Benefits, Boundaries (IEEE Access, 2019) adds another 877. The second of those sits in a venue most committees discount, which is the awkward part: your single most visible recent paper lives in a megajournal.

Meanwhile the operations side landed Journal of Operations Management (2023) — ABS 4*, and the single best venue on your CV — plus new 2026 papers in IJPR and IJPE. If the last three years were assessed alone, the profile would read very differently from the full record.

Method and caveats

  • Tier boundaries follow ABS AJG 2024 for management and operations journals, SJR 2025 quartiles for engineering and environmental titles, and CORE 2023 for computer-science conferences. Verified against SCImago and the CORE portal where the rating was decisive.
  • IEEE Access is Q1 by SJR but is placed in Tier 4 because its editorial model — author-pays, high acceptance, no scope constraint — means most evaluation committees discount it. Reasonable people disagree; if your institution reads quartiles rather than selectivity, move those three papers up a tier.
  • MDPI Applied Sciences is treated the same way and for the same reason.
  • Two items could not be classified from the Scholar row alone: Of narrow windows and acrobats (2021) and Additive manufacturing as a platform for introducing cyber-physical services (2018, 13 citations) list no venue. Both are counted as non-peer-reviewed here; if either appeared in a journal, the peer-reviewed total rises to 48 or 49.
  • The CVPR 2025 and ICML 2026 entries read as workshop rather than main-track papers. Main-track CVPR would be Tier 1; as workshop papers they are placed lower. Worth confirming.
